Kidspiration is a word processor program and writing skills training system designed for use by children with learning disabilities and others who learn better visually. It uses principles of visual learning to help students in kindergarten through the 5th grade to see, organize, and develop their ideas. It helps young readers and writers build confidence in organizing information, understanding concepts, and expressing their thoughts. It is similar to Inspiration (see separate entry) but designed for younger users. The program helps students to brainstorm ideas with pictures and words, organize and categorize information visually, create stories and descriptions using engaging visual tools, and explore new ideas with thought webs and visual mapping.
