TapToTalk is a voice output direct selection and symbolic communicator program designed for use by individuals with communication, cognitive, developmental, learning or speech disabilities, or autism. This application, or app, enables an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, Android device, or Windows 8 device to function as an alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) system for people who cannot speak or have difficulty speaking. TapToTalk comes with a sample AAC album, and the user can get additional free albums by following the instructions on the “Start” screen in the app. The user taps a picture and the app will speak the word(s) displayed below the picture. Each chosen picture leads to another screen of pictures. OPTIONS: TapToTalk Designer which allows the user to customize his or her TapToTalk app with his or her own pictures, text and sounds. TapToTalk Designer also includes over 2,600 pictures, 12,000 SymbolStix symbols, and 11,000 Widgit symbols. It allows the user to choose the language, vocabulary, voice and accent, and to record his or her own voice or to use text-to-speech.
