---- CUSTOMIZED ADAPTATION --------- PURPOSE: To provide a customized adaptation for an individual with cerebral palsy to have physical support, improved mobility, and independence while swimming in a pool or lake. The water scooter is adapted from the Fluid Motorchair (See http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/5/SportsRec/Marine/MotorizedWaterT...). The electric motor and mount tube were taken from the chair and a golf ball was added to the steering post to make it easy to use one handed. The water scooter was created by making a grid of PVC tubing available from any home improvement store, using an old set of floats from an old water chair, and using a seating system from the user’s old wheelchair. Children should always be supervised and wear life jackets when using the water scooter. TITLE: The Water Scooter. WEBSITE: Workshop Solutions.
