The Prodigy Voice Blood Glucose Meter is a voice output glucose analyzer designed for use by individuals with diabetes who are blind or have low vision. This blood glucose monitoring system has totally audible step-by-step setups that talk the user through all meter settings, such as time-and-date and glucose unit of measurement. No coding is required. The user inserts the test strip into the test strip port on the top of the meter, and the unit automatically turns on and talks the user through the testing steps. Results are presented in seven seconds. Buttons can be located through tactile features and identified through raised imprints. A Repeat button allows the user to repeat the last message or test result. The unit can store up to 450 test results with date-and-time, and audibly gives 7-, 14-, 21-, 30-, 60-, and 90-day averages. Test results can be downloaded to a computer. The unit allows the user to test from the palms, forearms, upper arms, thighs, and calves. The unit requires only a tiny drop of blood, which allows use of extra-fine gauge lancets.
